Good trip to Italy

I booked the 'Italy Guided Tours' package last spring. The online booking process was straightforward, and I received confirmation quickly. My travel consultant was helpful when I called to ask about airport transfers; they clarified everything. We flew into Rome, and the transfer was waiting as promised. Our group size was about 22 people, which felt manageable. Hotels were comfortable, mostly 3-4 star, and well-located in each city. The guides were knowledgeable, especially in Florence and Venice. The walking tours were good, but some days felt a little rushed between sites. Meals included were usually good, but I did opt out of a few group dinners to try local spots. The pace of the trip was moderate, but some of the older folks had trouble keeping up on longer walking days. Overall, a solid experience for seeing the highlights of Italy without planning every detail myself.

Mostly positive Japan experience

I took the 'Japan Guided Tours' package. The itinerary was packed, which was good for seeing a lot, but sometimes felt a bit rushed. Our guide was very informative and helped navigate the language barrier effectively. Hotels were comfortable and clean, though some were a bit far from major attractions in Tokyo. The included bullet train rides were a highlight. My only minor issue was that some of the included meals felt a bit generic; I wished for more opportunities to try authentic local cuisine outside the group. Delivery of pre-trip materials was on time, and customer service was quick to answer a question about luggage limits before I left.

Got a good deal on Iceland

I was looking for an 'Iceland Northern Lights Tours' package and found a pretty decent 'last minute deal' on their site. The price was significantly lower than other options I'd seen, which was the main draw for me. Booking was easy enough online. The tour itself was well-organized, and we did get to see the Northern Lights, which was amazing. The hotels were basic but clean. For what I paid, it felt like good value. I probably saved around $400 compared to booking earlier or with a different company.

Consistent European tours

This was my third trip with Go Ahead Tours; I did the 'Spain and Portugal Tours' package this time. I've also done their 'Ireland Group Tours' and a 'Greece Vacation Package' before. They're consistently good. The booking always goes smoothly, and I know what to expect with the hotels and guides. This trip was no different. Our guide was excellent, very organized, and the included excursions were well-chosen. The bus was comfortable, which is key for those longer travel days. I keep coming back because I trust them to deliver a solid, well-planned itinerary every time.

Hey, how do Go Ahead Tours compare to Trafalgar? I'm trying to decide between the two for a Europe trip.

M Mark Hernandez 2 weeks ago
Go Ahead generally feels a bit more structured, I think. Trafalgar sometimes has slightly smaller groups and maybe a bit more free time, but it really varies by tour. Both are good though.

I've done both. Go Ahead feels a bit more inclusive with some of the activities and meals. Trafalgar can be a bit more upscale on some of their higher-end tours, but Go Ahead is solid.

What's the deal with their cancellation policy? Is it super strict if I need to back out?

O Olivia G. 1 month ago
They have different tiers for cancellation, depending on how close to the departure date you cancel. You might lose your deposit or more. Definitely worth getting travel insurance.

Yeah, their policy is on their site. It's not super flexible if you cancel last minute, so insurance is a good idea for peace of mind.

Anyone know if you can stack discounts? Like if I have a referral code and there's an early booking deal, can I use both?

A Ashley B. 1 week ago
Nah, I'm pretty sure you can't combine discounts. I tried to use a referral code on top of a seasonal sale once and it wouldn't let me.

I think generally it's one discount per booking. Referral codes usually apply during booking, but most other deals are automatic.

Is Go Ahead Tours legit? Never heard of them before but the itineraries look awesome.

I Ian Lee 3 weeks ago
Yep, totally legit. They're part of EF Education First, which is a huge company. I've been on three trips with them.

They've been around for ages. My parents used them back in the day, and I just went on a trip with them last spring. No issues.

Any last minute deals happen with these guys? I'm flexible on dates and trying to snag a cheaper trip.

L Leah Hall 1 month ago
Yeah, sometimes they have last minute deals pop up, especially for tours that aren't quite full. Keep an eye on their site, they'll usually promote them.

I got a pretty good deal on an Italy trip about 2 months before departure. Worth checking for sure if you're not set on a specific date.
